This saturday I went to my host brother's soccer game, it was a lot of fun. The kids here take their soccer pretty seriously. I was getting some strange looks from some of the parents who obviously don't know who I am, but its all good because even if they were talking bad about me I wouldn't understand them.
I spent the last week traveling through Paris, Barcelona, and Madrid. I loved all but I have to say that Madrid wasn't nearly as cool as the other two. The really unfortunate part is that I thought I had to fully charged batteries and decided not to bring my charger, turns out I had two less than half charged batteries to work with. I ended up only taking pictures in Paris. If you get sick of the Eiffel tower I'm sorry it was a lot of fun to take pictures of and the next few posts just might include it in some way or form.
Amsterdam was quite a sight to see. Unfortunately I was with my entire class and didn't spend much time taking pictures, but I did get a few that I liked and will definitely be goin again on my own time.
Utrecht is a really beautiful city. You can see that the canal is on a lower level than the street. It is lined with restaurants and all sorts of shops that are right underneath the street. It was a really cool place to visit and I can't wait to go back in the Spring.
This last saturday was my first "excursion" and it was spent in Utrecht. The main attraction is the Dom tower. It is quite a sight. The Kerk (church) used to be attached but the middle section was destroyed.
I've chosen to look at what we focus on to start of this new experience. I've found that being in a new culture can seem overwhelming, in both good and bad ways. I noticed that some of us have chosen to focus on the good, and others have chosen to focus on the bad or annoying things about the Dutch culture. It may be food or small towels or whatever but some have definitely focused on those things. I am happy to say that my focus has been on my new family, my surroundings, and all things that I love about Zwolle. These were just some thoughts that ran through my head as I was taking these pictures.
